Big Boy

Beckett is off the charts for height and weight. At his 4 month appointment he weighed 18lbs 5oz and was 28" long. Here he is playing in the exersaucer.

And big brother...

Visiting Karoline and Julianna

Caleb and Beckett had a blast visiting Karoline and Julianna in North Carolina this past weekend. I think they're both in love now.

What a doll.

Jack!

We got to meet Caleb and Beckett's new cousin Jack this past weekend. He is beautiful.

Jack and Beckett have about the same birth weight. Amazing how big they can get in 4.5 months!

Quotes #2

I probably need to start making some notes during the week because I know he said some funny stuff but I can't remember it all.

"You're cute." (To our 4 year old friend Karoline.)
"Caleb is funny and crazy and silly."
"Knock knock. Who's there? Hehehe." (His first attempt at telling a joke but there was no punch line.)

And the moment I wish I had on tape--I was rocking Beckett and singing to him when Caleb came into Beckett's room, walked over to the rocking chair and sang "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" without any prompting.

Quotes of the Week #1

In an effort to force myself to post at least something once a week, I'm going to start posting the funniest/cutest/weirdest things that come out of Caleb's mouth every week. Of course, once I understand what Beckett is saying he'll get the same treatment.

In the category of came up with on his own:
"Caleb really needs a truck sticker."
"Mommy really needs cheese." (How'd he know?)
"Caleb really needs french toast."
"Mama hair will not get Caleb."
"Beckett can ride the bus home."

(He has apparently recently learned what it means not to just need something, but really need it. He also has not mastered the use of "I" and still refers to himself in the third person. He is also petrified of all of my hair that is all over the place because of postpartum hormone craziness.)

In the category of parroting something he heard someone say:
"Caleb is a vapo-rub junkie." (His Dad said this after he asked for vapo-rub incessantly.)

Milestones

Caleb and Beckett had quite an eventful January. Of course they got to be about 5 miles from the swearing in of our 44th president but I don't think they'll remember any of it. As far as other things go, Caleb has been doing really well with potty training. He is potty trained now except for naps and nighttime and I think we're pretty close with the naps. So nice to be free of diapers with at least one. He also recently transitioned to a big boy bed (we just converted his crib to a toddler bed). He seems to like it and has only fallen out a couple of time so far! At his two year appointment, he weighed 26.5lbs (around 25th percentile) and was 35" tall (60th percentile). I still have him in mostly size 18mos pants because he is such a skinny minny. I think his brother will be catching up to him soon in the clothes department.

Beckett has found his toes and learned how to take off his socks (just like his brother). Poor baby also had his first ear infection and some viral thing that gave him ulcers in his mouth. The non stop crying during the Super Bowl led to baby's first trip to the ER. Not fun. He seems mostly recovered now and loves to babble. He was 17.5 lbs at the ER. We have his 4 month appt this week.

Here's Caleb at the park this weekend.

Here's Becektt in the bumbo seat watching us eat dinner. He just sits there and stares and drools while we eat.
