I had been having mild inconsistent contractions for a couple of weeks. They were making me very antsy and impatient for real labor to start. Friday night I started to have more intense contractions (must of been the Obama-McCain debate). I decided not to get my hopes up and went to sleep. The contractions woke me up around 1am and they were 4 minutes apart. I knew this was it. I woke Kris up around 2:30am and had him call his parents since they were going to be watching Caleb. Of course, as it would happen the contractions seemed to slow once they got here and I ended up waking them up much too early. After a few walks and some rest, the contractions got much stronger. We headed to the hospital around 1pm Saturday and I was almost 6cm dilated (what a relief!). I got the epidural about an hour and a half later and got to nap. Around 5:15pm I started to feel some pressure--I was checked and was completely dilated and ready to push. About 4 pushes later, Beckett was born! He had the cord tightly wrapped around his neck but his heartrate was fine until I started pushing--good thing he came out so quickly. We got home Monday and everything is going well so far--nursing is much easier this time around and Beckett is still in the sleepy phase. We'll see how long that lasts!
